The inaugural reception photobooth session!

by James ~ April 11th, 2008. Filed under: News.

We’ve been thinking about offering a simple photobooth type service at wedding receptions to guarantee better coverage  of  the guests that might not otherwise wonder out to the dance floor during the open dancing part of the reception.  We decided to give it a try and Mary and Erik’s reception (see below) and it was a huge hit!  It seemed like the guests had a lot of fun doing it, and we came away with some great photos.

The setup is super simple: we just put up a single light bounced into an umbrella, then either me or Genevieve manned (or womanned) the camera while the other was out shooting on the dance floor.

If we are shooting your wedding this year, and this looks interesting to you, leave a comment or drop us a line.  It was great fun!

Between the comments posted here and the emails I am getting, this is turning out to be a popular post.

I should mention that one of us is manning the camera for all these photos. I have a couple more relaxed posing ideas but they will totally depend on the crowd. I’m looking forward to the next one!
