3rd Annual Wedding Photography Giveaway Essay Contest
2008 has turned out to be quite an amazing year for us at Genevieve Nisly Photography and 2009 is looking quite promising as well despite all of the economic turmoil. Just when I thought God couldn’t bless us anymore, He goes does just that: a thriving business that we can barely keep up with, loving friends and family, healthy and adorable kids, an amazing spouse who challenges me every day to be a better person and the list goes on.
This year we are doing a repeat of what we’ve done the past several years. We’ve been blessed in so many areas and want to pass on that blessing to two couples who might not be able to afford our services. This year, we also have the participation of two friends and amazing photographers: Tom Forrest and Andrew Jordan. They will be sharing their talents on this project so each couple will get two photographers.
Each of the two winning couples will receive:
- two photographers
- 8 hours of coverage
- the high resolution files on DVD
- online gallery hosted for 3 months
- images in a proofbook or proofbox
Here are the stipulations for this contest:
- Submissions will be excepted between January 1st – January 31st 2009. You may submit essays for couples you know or are related to; you do not have to be the bride and groom to enter an essay.
-The wedding must take place within 60 miles of the studio in Canton, Ohio in 2009.
-Genevieve Nisly Photography will choose four finalists based on both the essay and our availability to actually shoot the wedding
-We will then post the four finalist essays on this blog and we will let our blog readers vote on who is the most deserving.
-Voting will close on February 14th at midnight and the winners will be announce the following Monday.
Here’s what you need to submit:
- name of the couple with wedding date and location
- a photo of the couple
- a creative essay on why you think you deserve to win this free wedding photography
- email all the above to contest@genevievenisly.com

Is there a length/word limit? My fiance and I are both writers and we love to talk about ourselves…
No, there’s not set limit, but consider your audience! People will be voting on the essays, so you don’t want to make it too daunting for them.
If I were to win the sweepstakes, it would be a dream come true for my fiance and I! We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves and, although we want to have a fairytale wedding, the reality is that the funds are not there. We are doing the best that we can to buy second hand items and our friends and family have been great! My fiance and I have been dating for 6 years, became engaged in September of 2008, and immediately started planning for our big day. In November, however, we lost my dad very unexpectedly to a massive heart attack. Needless to say, our wedding plans were put on hold for a bit, as both of us grieved. My fiance had already lost both of his parents in the past 8 years, so this reopened a wound for him as well. Despite the fact that these loved ones won’t be there to fill their seats, we know they are joining us in spirit! We are determined to move forward, as we know my dad would have wanted. (He was so excited about our wedding!) We are so excited to begin our new life together and winning this sweepstakes would be the icing on the cake (wedding cake!)

My fiance is going crazy with anticipation and hope… which in turn leads to her asking me if they are posted yet all the time. lol. just wondering….let me know.
