Ohio Family Portraits – the Millers

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Jeff and Lauren have kept in touch with us since their wedding back in October 2006. Their family of 2 has since grown to include Cortland, a very expressive little boy. While planning a visit back to Ohio, the Millers decided it would a great opportunity to take some family portraits. For their lifestyle photo session, we stayed in or around the studio in Canton. We were blessed with sun and decided to take photos out in the snow. I had such a fun time catching up with them and photographing the whole family but I could barely keep from laughing when seeing his various faces. Take a look for yourself:

Winter Youngstown Engagement Session – Aileen and Bobbie

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

These are Aileen and Bobbie’s engagement photos taken right after Thanksgiving in good ol’ Youngstown Ohio. While it was bitter cold, we still managed to visit various areas of Mill Creek Metroparks and downtown itself. I loved the variety of outfits Aileen and Bobbie brought and the color contrast with the bleak winter surroundings.

Justin and Summer’s nighttime engagement session

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Summer and Justin’s engagement session represents a first for me: it’s the first session that I’ve ever done that started well after sundown. We’ve finished many sessions after the fall of night, but we have never done an entire session at night, until now. Ask anyone who as ever attempted this, and they will tell [...]

Nathaniel and Valerie’s wedding at Josaphat Arts Hall

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Nathaniel and Valerie’s wedding on Saturday in Cleveland was the perfect way to finish off the 2009 wedding shooting season. Great people, fantastic locations, top notch event design, and a rockin’ dance party came together to make for a very memorable wedding. I started off at Nathaniel and Valerie’s apartment where the guys where getting ready in between Rockband bouts while Genevieve met up with Valerie and the girls at the nearby Embassy Suites. While at the apartment, I picked up on the fact that Nathaniel and I are very much in the same wavelength in terms of music. He even turned me on to a very cool album by The Dead Weather which is downloading into my iTunes playlist as I type.

Shaker Heights family portraits

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

I typically don’t post lots images from portrait session but when you have an easy going family and lots of variety, it’s hard not to get carried away. I had a fantastic time photographing Craig, Carmen and their 3 kids Carson, Maddox and Arabella at their home in Shaker Heights. Glad we managed to get some outside lifestyle photos with our unusually nice northeast Ohio weather for November.

Akron portrait session – Holly and Thea

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

The only thing cuter than an exuberant and laughing child is that same child looking very serious. While I am all for photographing smiles, I also find a young child like Thea looking so serious very endearing.

Here are some select photos from Thea and Holly’s Akron portrait session. Love the colorful leaves being thrown up in the air

Matt and Claire’s wedding at the Akron Hilton West

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

We got to make the most of the short amount of daylight we have this time of year then we headed to one of my favorite photo locations ever; the Akron Civic Theater. We got to squeeze in between performances of The Nutcracker and had free reign of the place for almost an hour. The historic and magnificently maintained theater provided a dramatic backdrop for photos. We then headed over to the Akron Hilton West’s Grand Ballroom for a fantastic reception with both a DJ and a live funk band.
