Caitlin and Jimmy’s Backyard Wedding on Lake Erie

I’m sure that Caitlin and Jimmy had lots of options to choose from when deciding where to celebrate their wedding. It could have been in their current home town of New York City where Caitlin writes, records, and performs her music and where Jimmy practices law. Or it could have been at one of the many traditional reception locations in Caitlin’s home town of Erie, PA, or Jimmy’s home town of Mansfield, Ohio. In the end, they chose to spend the entire day in the very back yard where Caitlin and here four sisters spent their childhood. It was probably an easy decision considering the space and the beautiful views of the lake from the back yard.

Caitlin’s day may have started a little bumpy with a hair appointment that didn’t exactly go as planned but she was able to shrug it off and enjoy her time with her loved ones as much as any bride could. She even sang a beautiful version of the Dylan classic Make You Feel My Love to Jimmy during the ceremony. We had a lot of fun with the bridal party and we felt very welcomed by both Caitlin and Jimmy’s families.

Melissa and Jason’s Smoky Mountain Wedding

When Jason and Melissa original hired us to shoot their wedding, everyone involved was planning a wedding for Youngstown, Ohio, so we were equal parts surprised and excited to find out that the wedding had been moved to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and that they wanted to bring us along for the ride! We spent the better part of Friday driving through the park scouting locations throughout the mountain range with a break in the afternoon to touch base with Jason and Melissa at the Church in Gatlinburg. I will say that a day on the job spent driving through one of our National Parks checking out trails, vistas, and overlooks is a pretty good day.

Jason and Missy, we both really appreciate you guys going through the trouble of bringing us with you and putting us up in the Cabin for the trip; we truly hope that we can make it all worth while.

Romantic session – last photos from Mexico

Two days after Cody and Alyssa’s wedding we did a mock trash the dress session. I say mock because she wasn’t wearing her wedding dress. I hope I get to do more of these sessions in the future because they are so fun for us and for the couple. These sessions open up doors to be creative that aren’t typically an option.

I’ve been eager to share some more photos from my trip to Mexico. The day after the wedding, Michelle Turner and I had a blast photographing John and Jen in downtown Puerto Vallarta. Starting at 8 am has some benefits: the light is gorgeous, the humidity and temperatures are milder but the local Starbucks is closed. Thankfully we managed to get some coffee after the session which was still early by my standards.

Here we are on the steps of the church where John and Jen were going to get married the next day.

Then we took our time walking around PV.

Cody and Alyssa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Almost 2 weeks ago, I had the pleasure of trying something very different for me. My friend Michelle Turner asked me to second shoot a wedding with her which I had never done before and the destination for this couple was Puerto Vallarta Mexico, another first. Thankfully Michelle is familiar with the area and prepped me on what to expect. Thanks for asking me Michelle, I had a great time!

Alyssa and Cody chose Las Caletas for their wedding where they were surrounded by 50 close friends and family members. The location and coordinator Nicole are great for those who want a laid back tropical wedding. Bare feet are de rigueur!

I got to hang out with Cody while getting ready and it was fun to see how chill these guys were.
