Tanya was born in Russia, raised in Israel and moved to Ohio at 13. She gradutated from the Cleveland Institute of Art for Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography and received her Masters in Photography at the School of Visual Arts, NY. Her MFA show will take place in NYC in mid June.

“After living in NYC for 2 years, I wanted to get a job that combines photography, office management, and great people. Great music also a plus.

I have 3 amazing siblings: Amy, Ben, and Sam.

Amy loves getting her photos taken, whereas Ben and Sam would rather have a root canal.

Favorite foods: Pizza and massive amounts of bacon

This is a part time position of roughly 20 to 30 hours a week and you would be working with us in our home office in Canton, but will soon be re-locating to Green, Ohio, just south of Akron.

It may not be the best paying job ever, but we can make up for that with a chill work environment, very flexible schedule, a dress code of “be comfortable” and very low stress.  It’s the type of job that forms around your life, not the other way around.

We are looking for someone with good communication and organizational skills, is a self starter, doesn’t take themselves too seriously, doesn’t mind James’ taste in music, solid knowledge of computer basics, and is cool with our young kids as we all end up in pretty close proximity on a daily basis.  Design skills with Photoshop and InDesign experience is a major, major plus.

Responsibilities will include scheduling meetings and sessions with clients, keeping track of print and album orders, packaging and shipping, uploading client galleries, basic data entry type bookkeeping in quickbooks, and the occasional hanging out with the kids when both James and Genevieve have appointments at the same time.

Fearlessphotographers.us is a relatively new collective of photographers from around the world who share a common goal to explore wedding day photography that goes well beyond normal and expected, and into territory where only the truly fearless find themselves.  Some of the best photographers in the world are here and their image competitions bring in some of the most interesting, complex, unexpected, and downright beautiful wedding imagery I have ever seen.

So obviously, I was very excited to find one of James’ images among the recent round of winners!

Genevieve and I will be teaching a one day basic photography class at our studio in Canton, Ohio on April 23rd, 2011.  The class will start at 10:00 and will last approximately six hours, or whenever you get sick of us.

Topics of discussion will include camera controls, the basics of exposure, composition, using your flash, using available light, lens and focal length selection, and basic post-processing.  Be sure to bring your camera because we will be doing a good deal of hands-on with you as well.

The goal of the class will be to help you to get the most out of your DSLR purchase by helping you understand your camera and how to use it.

This class is not intended for professionals, advanced amateurs, or those looking to start a photography business.  There are already many good workshops and seminars out there for that.

The fee for the class is $250 and will be limited to the first 15 people who register using the link below.

The Cleveland Museum of Art’s photographer will take a picture of you and your partner, which will be framed for you as a keepsake.
