Lauren is a photographer herself so I was thrilled to hear she wanted me to photograph her son Elliott who was turning one as well and her and her husband Scott. Lauren did a great job coordinating everyone’s clothes as well as making a yummy cake (which I sadly didn’t get to try) for Elliott to smash. I loved the the color selection, especially how striking the red looked outside in snowy Ohio. Thanks Elliott, Scott and Lauren for a fun portrait session!
Violet is thrilled to have a baby brother Corbyn even if that means she is no longer the constant focus of her mom and dad. For this photo session, grandma and grandpa joins us as well at the couple’s new home.
It was great to hear that despite living hours away, Natalie and Jeff decided to come into town to visit with family, get Layla baptized and have me photograph their first family portraits. Seeing how fun we had at their wedding, I knew this time would be similar and sure enough we laughed during lots of the session and got some time to catch up.
I was thankful to get the call that they had started a family of their own and wanted me to photograph baby Alyson. We planned the fist official family portraits at their home in Akron.
In case you haven’t figured out by now, I (Genevieve) photograph all the babies and families that you see here on the blog and the website. It has truly become a pleasure to witness and capture the various chapters in people’s lives. In a small way I feel like I am capturing a part of history that will be treasured for years to come and that is so rewarding!
My guess is Jimmy and Becci can relate especially with their son Kael growing up so fast. It’s been so fun witnessing his personality, his vibrant and exuberant one, develop over the course of 2011. While I’ve already photographed his one year old session, I refuse to go out of order so here you can enjoy images from his 9 month session taken before the holidays.
Most of the trees had shed their foliage but a few golden leaves were persisting to hold on. Thankful for a final crisp fall day for the Hudec family to photograph their growing family. With young children changing so rapidly, it is so important to capture some of these fleeting moments before they are forever gone.
For a little change of pace, I had the opportunity to photograph Suganthi. For some images, she wore an Indian saree and for some a more formal outfit. Regardless of her clothing choice, her bubbly personality was the common theme.
While Jackson was eager to pose for my camera, his younger brother Rhys wasn’t as enthusiastic. It should be said that Jackson has had prior experience with being photographed by me which helps.
The crunch of colorful leaves and the last of warm glow of the sun set the scene for Emme and Amelia’s fall portrait session. It’s been a little while since Emme was in front of our camera but she is just as jovial now as she was when she was a baby. Now she has little sister Mia to keep her company. Mom and dad made some appearances in the photos too.
Some 9 years ago, I photographed the first chapter in the Fawcett story: their wedding. I’ve since captured chapter 2 a couple years ago with the birth of Harrison which can be seen here. Now with the addition of Faye, I was able to photograph chapter 3 of this lovely and growing family. I am often amazed to see how different siblings can be and Faye is very much the opposite of her brother. She is such a laid back and happy baby while Harrison a little more serious and loves being close to Mom and Dad at all times.
This is my third time photographing the Ruch family so you would think it would be easier the third time around, right? Well the boys behaved superbly with the youngest one giving suggestions for poses (which where great). Little Arabella however had a mind of her own and this did not include fully cooperating for photos. Thankfully I’ve had similar personal experiences with my own children. I just had to be faster and more obstinate than her which I am
This session was a combined Violet is 18 months old, family portraits and maternity session so we captured a lot of variety. I had to share one of Violet’s goofy smile. She hasn’t quite mastered the relaxed grin yet but maybe by next photo session she will.
It’s been a yearly tradition to take portraits of our kids in the fall. It’s hard to resist the golden and rust colored foliage, the crisp air and the crunch the leaves make make when walking on them. This year we barely managed to get any images because we waited until November to take Ezra and Rochelle to a newly discovered nearby location. The challenging part was walking past a playground to said spot to get the desired images.
If you are a regular follower of our blog, you might recognize Clara as I have photographed her at several intervals since her birth. This little girl is now two and full of personality. We decided to try something different for this session. I thought it would be fun to capture a glimpse of her life at this point in time and remember her favorite activities, toys and all around personality. So along with capturing her simply being herself, I designed an alphabet book just for Clara based on her favorite things and daily activities. I’m including a couple spreads of the album for you all to see
Elia at 2 weeks for her first baby portraits was a little less malleable than some babies I have photographed. Poor little girl had the hiccups which prevented her from falling asleep. Finally toward the end of the session, the cutie gave in to sleep once we headed outside. Of course I had to to try some new ideas including a new location right by our studio
Brooks is now 1 and I feel honored to have captured so much of him during his first year. I nearly photographed him taking his first steps but he had to hold out 2 more days when the camera was not around. In some ways this session is bittersweet because I will no longer be able to capture Brooks (and Clara) during their first year but has been a fantastic journey to be a part of. Brooks is very fun, happy and easy going. I hope he keeps those traits as he grows older. Here’s to many great years ahead!

As a photographer, it is so rewarding to capture the bond between parent and child. To witness how Jeff and Amy are already so enamored with their son Finn was one of those instances. I felt privileged to photograph their family and am excited about what the future has in store for him. Finn has great role models to look up to.
This is chapter 3 in the documentation of Kael’s life. For this photo session, we chose a location that his parents, Jimmy and Becci, are very familiar with. We photographed their engagement session in Peninsula Ohio and the nearby parks based on the fact they spend a lot of time bicycling in that area.
The Ostertags are one of the families we have photographed the most since their wedding in June 2006. This will be their 5th (or is it 6th?) session with us. Can’t believe how fast time has gone and how much their family has grown. This time we gathered to capture their son Jesse turning one. He is such a happy little guy but I’m sure he keeps mom and dad hopping at times. Thanks so much for trusting us to capture your family memories!
Sometimes I may sound like a broken record but some things are worth repeating. I am so thankful for that our couples trust us to photograph such important days and memories in their lives. Jimmy and Becci are one such couple we have gotten to know and appreciate over the last few years (and there are many more).
In anticipation of Caleb’s first birthday, I captured a family portrait session at their home near Cleveland. We made sure to include some of his Korean heritage and traditions into the photo session. It was fun to learn more about Korean first birthday customs and what the various parts stand for. I enjoyed the colorful outfits Caleb and his parents wore.
With the darling face and adorable and sometimes mischievous looks Brooks displays, I can’t imagine how his parents can resist. I know I was smiling the whole session just seeing his cute grin on the other side of the camera. Can you blame me? Just see for yourself.
James Tucker made his entrance into the world on Easter day. Sadly his brother Jack might have been a little distracted by his Easter candy to focus much on Tucker. Who could blame him? I wonder how long it will take Jack to change his attitude from indifferent to enthralled toward his baby brother. I’m sure he’ll be sharing soon his love for gardening, how to best wear boots, play with trucks and enjoy running around outside. But don’t grow up too fast Tucker! Mommy and Daddy want to cherish these times with you before you can run away from them.
Caitlin had a lovely birthday surprise planned for her husband in which I played a part. I took some maternity portraits at their home in Clinton and included their son Jack in some images as well. Since I have a penchant for old historical homes, I was thrilled to see their house and all the options we had to work with. The house and yard was a great backdrop and of course made Jack be very at ease for the photos.
Jannelle and Ben hold a special place in my heart. They were the second wedding we ever blogged back in 2006. (Can’t believe we’ve been blogging for that long.) We also still have a copy of their wedding album at the studio and use some of their images to this day in various promotional materials. With their sweet and tender nature I can’t imagine NOT liking Ben and Jannelle. Now 5 years later they welcome little Roman into their lives and it’s so fun to see how he’s already turned their world upside down in the best of ways. His smile is infectious! I can’t wait to see who’s temperament he takes after because it’s obvious who he looks already like.
Little Brooks is no longer so little. I don’t doubt he’ll be giving his sister Clara a run for her money very soon when they aren’t having the best of time playing together. At least for now she can still scamper off faster than he can go. Since Dad had a little more say in this session, we were able to showcase Brooks’ talents at pool. My recommendations is that he keeps practicing and he’ll be a pro soon enough.
Jackson recently welcome is baby sister Allison home. Mommy and Daddy are already totally enamored by their baby girl but he might need a little more time to warm to her. After all this means he no longer has mom and dad’s undivided attention. I’m sure it will be a very short time before their are best of friends and Jackson starts keeping a eye out for his little sis.
Jimmy and Becci are old pros at being photographed since this is their third time in front of our cameras. Meanwhile baby Kael behaved as if he had the same kind of experience despite it being his few portraits ever. This little guy is such a cutie and already stylish which I’m sure is due to his mom. He kept on smiling for me (and don’t tell me it was caused by gas). I know we are going to great time capturing his growth. Welcome to the world baby Kael!
Jay and Suellen just welcomed baby Isla into to their lives. She is such a precious little baby and posed like a charm for her first portrait session. If she is a charming growing up as she was during the session, they are going to have a breeze with her. Welcome to parenthood you two! Enjoy every moment with Isla because they will go by so fast.
Witnessing the bond between mother and child is an amazing privilege. I am fascinated by how one little person without even doing anything can make mom, dad and siblings instantly fall deeply in love. While some babies come into the world with ease, good health and a strong immune system, Lucas had a little rougher start than most. Nonetheless his mom, dad and big brother Aiden have such a devotion and love to him. Thank you for letting me capture that bond and family love!
This photo session of lovely baby Hudson was a gift for her daddy who is amazed how quickly his little girl is changing. I refrained from posting photos until after Christmas so as to not ruin any surprises.
Tom and Rhonda welcomed baby Dominic into their lives just before Thanksgiving. The couple has hard year after loosing Tom’s father earlier in the year. Thankfully grandpa was able to personally pick the name for the little bundle of joy before his passing. Hopefully baby Dominic made their Holiday season enjoyable despite missing one of their loved ones. He is a vivacious little guy that will probably be keeping mom and dad busy for years to come.

I’ve had the pleasure of know Katie’s mom Tricia for several years now through weddings. She is the coordinator extraordinaire from Always Eventful and it’s always a joy to work with her. This time the photography was a little different than what I typically do when she is involved but it was such a nice change of pace. Her daughter Katie is so vivacious and fun to photograph. We’ve had the pleasure of photographing Ashley and Anthony previously for their engagement session and look forward to their wedding in 2011. This session was a little different since it involved all of Ashley’s family. I’m so glad we did prior to the wedding so we know a little better who the significant people are and their dynamics. One thing is for sure: if their wedding is anything like this fall photo session, there will be lots of laughs.
Robin and Jason were married several years ago and we have managed to stay in touch. It’s been nice to keep up with our families and enjoy the occasional dinner together. Now their son Jacob is over a year old and very much like his dad. We captured their latest session in an orchard surrounded by lovely scenery.
Fall is probably my favorite season and I have the sneaky suspicion Violet already likes it a lot or will learn to love too. This little girl has changed a lot since her newborn session. Those cheeks were meant to be squeezed but I managed to act professional and refrain myself. I hope you enjoy the photos of this little pumpkin.
Clara just had the joy of welcoming her baby brother Brooks into the family. Brooks is one laid-back baby so we had fun capturing various photos for his first portrait session. If dad has his way, he will become an avid fisherman. It was a pleasure meeting you little boy!
Sisters London and Hudson are quite the pair: active, adorable, sometimes serious and loving to practice posing for the camera. With a mom that is a trunk keeper for Matilda Jane, they also have quite the wardrobe.
Arabella enjoyed a solo portrait session without her two brother in honor of her birthday. This little girl is so expressive. I’m sure her mom sees even more variety than the stern to giggly expressions I captured during the session. Happy birthday cutie!
Every three years the Meneelys pose for some new family portraits. I think it’s a wonderful tradition that most families forget to do. Young children change from year to year but once they are teens, doing portraits every 3 years is a great way to capture your evolving family. I was privileged to have them choose me to photograph them this time around, by the falls in Chagrin Falls.
The time has come to celebrate Clara’s first birthday. I can’t believe this little girl is already one. Time sure has flown by and I was so excited to hear mom is expecting baby #2! This time for Clara’s session we celebrated in style with a cake from White Flower Cake Shoppe after which she needed cleaned up 
I’ve known Stephen and Tricia for a few years now. They in fact just celebrated 4 years of marriage (a wedding we photographed too, congrats you guys). They now have 2 adorable little boys. Dane and the recent family addition Jesse. It has been a pleasure being to able to photograph the growing family and we can’t wait to see how who the boys grom into with such parents.
It happened again, a photographer asked us to photograph him and his family. This time I was a little less nervous that we were being trusted to photograph another photographer’s family. It probably helped that it Joshua J Wood and that his wife and daughters are fun and laid-back.
Graham and April had the pleasure of welcoming little Violet into the world recently. This precious girl posed like a charm for her first newborn portraits. It was also the first time I was able to photograph 4 generations of one family in a single portrait. It was a pleasure to see all the ladies bonding and ooohing over baby Violet. Can’t wait to see who she takes after.
I’d been patiently waiting for the call that James and Elisabeth had their baby. After how well the maternity session went, I had high expectations for Matthew’s newborn session. Sure enough the little boy settled down for some adorable baby images. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the family and newborn portraits all captured at their home in Akron Ohio.
Jeff and Tracy welcomed little Aubrey into their family over three months ago. This sweet girl has stunning blue eyes and creamy complexion I envious of. She also inherited mommy and daddy’s good looks. It was so fun to meet this precious baby at her Cleveland home for her first portraits and official family photo session. Since her last portrait session, little Clara has had her ears pierced. Isn’t that adorable? Can’t believe she is already 9 months old and for her next lifestyle session she’ll be one year old. I was sad to think I might to get to photograph her much more until I heard the wonderful news that she is going to be a big sister and they want photos of the new family member. Congrats on the growing family!
I love photographing fun, energetic and slightly quirky families like the Dehavens (which I mean in the nicest way possible). The enthusiasm evident in their interactions was so enjoyable to witness. Lifestyle portrait sessions are meant to capture those family interactions and give you something to cherish years down the road. What was even more special about this family photo session is that I was able to photograph Miles’ first snowfall. What a treat that was!
Jeff and Lauren have kept in touch with us since their wedding back in October 2006. Their family of 2 has since grown to include Cortland, a very expressive little boy. While planning a visit back to Ohio, the Millers decided it would a great opportunity to take some family portraits. For their lifestyle photo session, we stayed in or around the studio in Canton. We were blessed with sun and decided to take photos out in the snow. I typically don’t post lots images from portrait session but when you have an easy going family and lots of variety, it’s hard not to get carried away. I had a fantastic time photographing Craig, Carmen and their 3 kids Carson, Maddox and Arabella at their home in Shaker Heights. Glad we managed to get some outside lifestyle photos with our unusually nice northeast Ohio weather for November.
The only thing cuter than an exuberant and laughing child is that same child looking very serious. While I am all for photographing smiles, I also find a young child like Thea looking so serious very endearing.

Farms are such a great backdrop for family photos. One extra bonus was the soybean fields at the family farm in Canal Fulton. Extra bonuses were the unusually warm fall temperatures and gorgeous colors we had to accompany Sara and Greg’s family portraits. I’ve been noticing golden soy fields while driving around and thought they would make a great backdrop in images. I was so glad we were able to incorporate them and for such a lovely family.
Nolan was about to turn one when mom realized it was past time for some family portraits. These kids have loads of energy and cuteness. Nolan is bound to start walking any day now to keep up with his sisters.

So often, us photographers with kids neglect to turn the camera on ourselves or to ask a fellow photographer to take our portraits. This was an option to remedy this. All photographers participating were then asked to photograph another family.

We had the pleasure of photographing John and Laurie’s wedding some three and a half years ago. I was so happy to hear the good news that they had since had a little boy Liam and wanted us to capture their growing family. We waited until Liam was 3 months old and showed some personality to schedule the family session at their home near Cleveland.
Installment number 3 of our trip to France: this time it’s photos of our kiddos and a couple of us. With the stunning backdrops available it was easy to take a lot of portraits of Rochelle and Ezra. With their level of energy, it’s easier to do them separately seeing they rarely stay put together. I know I am a biased mom but I think James and I made some cute kids.
Here is episode 2 of cuteness Clara! For these baby portraits, Mom and Clara came to the studio but we still managed to go outside for a couple photos. It’s so fun to see her personality starting to show a little more compared to her newborn photos. Those eyes and cheeks are adorable!
When I started talking to Heidi of Heidzilla about a portrait session, I knew it would be a blast for me and hopefully for her. My goal with every portrait session is to bring out the individual’s personality and try to capture it through my lens. Having worked with Heidi a couple times and spent some time talking and emailing on other occasions, I had a pretty good sense of who she is: cheerful, hardworking, feminine, energetic, elegant, helpful with a hint of spunkiness. Hopefully I captured some of that in these images.
I will be breaking our trip to France into different parts so I can share more photos. This post focuses on Alicia who is two months old. These family portraits also include a couple of her older brother Lucas. For being so young, she is already so expressive and loves holding her head up. Her brother is pretty smitten with her. Both kids can thank Mom for the stunning blues eyes they were blessed with.
When Mary and Erik shared the news of expecting a little girl, I was thrilled for them. They are such a sweet and kindhearted couple that I knew that one day they would make amazing parents. I could not wait to meet and take portraits of baby Claire. We did the session at their Cleveland home which might have helped her feel more relaxed but I still think Claire is a natural.
I had the wonderful privilege of photographing Adam and Kelly’s 5 year wedding anniversary celebration at 7 Martini Lounge in Canton. They’ve seen many dates at this place so it seemed like a great location for the photos. Funny side note: we photographed Adam and Kelly’s engagement and wedding photos but she was still nervous when starting the session. With her bubbly personality, infectious laugh and drink in hand, it was a matter of seconds before they both relaxed.
I met Amy and Greg almost 3 years ago when I did their engagement session. I was so thrilled to hear they were expecting a little girl and wanted some newborn portraits at their home in Richfield Ohio. Their daughter Clara was such a pleasure to photograph with her sweet disposition. She was soooo cooperative I think she needs to give lessons to all the babies I photograph.

When I heard of the birth of baby Genevieve, I knew I had to photograph this little girl. It’s such an uncommon name and a pretty one at that, that I had to jump on the opportunity of meeting another Genevieve. I am so glad I did! She is an alert and camera aware newborn. After a great maternity session, I was eager to finally get to photograph baby Annabelle at her home in Canton. While I love taking photos of sleeping newborns, the babies never seem to want to cooperate. Thankfully Annabelle gave in and let me capture some adorable images.

It is such a privilege to photograph a family’s first official portrait. Harper was such a good model too that I couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Those eyes…that smile…the chubby checks…that baby soft skin…what’s not to love? Thank you baby girl for being so sweet and easy to photograph!
I kinda feel sorry for these kids because the weather was so cold but hopefully they still had fun.
To warm them up, I asked them to jump and got some action photos in the process. I’m also pretty glad I asked the group if they had any ideas for poses and they came up with that last one on their own. I probably should have asked them sooner!
For those of you that have come to the studio, you know we share the building with other business and one of them is Katie Eslich’s chiropractic business. We’ve slowly been getting to know her but this was the first time meeting the kids. Both girls are full of life and spirit. Dad and mom have a little himself too so that made it easy to capture fun photos.

Eric and Ashley are such a sweet and kind couple that we love to hear from them after photographing their wedding 2 Augusts ago. We were thrilled to hear they had their first baby: a little girl named Scarlett! Yes they are Ohio State fans.
Parents are naturally biased as am I. So when Ashley said that Scarlett is a cute, smily and adorable chubby baby I was a little sceptic (because my babies are very cute). Sure enough I was blown away by Scarlett’s great personality and joviality. I’m so happy I get to photograph such cuddly and loveable babies like her.
‘Tis the season for thinking about Christmas presents. That’s what Lisa and her sister-in-law were planning for when they asked about having their kids photographed for Grandma. Let’s hope she doesn’t check this blog or the surprise is ruined!
I met Shannon when she was a bridesmaid in Paul and Nicole’s wedding we photographed in August 07. Nicole’s mom knew Shannon was expecting her first born and bought a gift certificate for us to photograph the growing family. Like many mom’s with the arrival of their first born, life changes and so does schedules, habits and expectations so the photo session happened later than expected. I was thrilled when I was finally able to meet Owen. He is such a happy guy!
After rescheduling due to bad weather, we finally had a nice day to photograph Stella and celebrate her first birthday. For being so young, Stella has such a bubbly personality. Making her smile was pretty easy.

I had the pleasure of photographing the Towell Family during one of the last nice days of fall at their home in Akron, Ohio. Little Tommy, who isn’t quite 2 months old in these photos, is such a cute baby. Some babies have those chubby cheeks and legs that you are just wanting to squeeze. Tommy is one of those babies.
For anyone who follows this blog closely, you might remember the Bradley Family that I photographed at Virgina Kendall a few weeks ago. The Jordans are their neighbors and Trevin and Sammy boys are best pals (most of the time).
I loved how much initiative and enthusiasm Trevin showed in the photos. His parents did pretty good too. So good in fact that I used their photos to create a new proofbook. I’ll let the photos do the talking:
I had the pleasure of photographing the Bradleys late in the fall last year and we tried again earlier in the season this time. While the weather was daunting leading up to the session, I am so glad we still went ahead with it. The two little ones kept me hopping to get the photos the photos I wanted. I’m also glad Anna warmed up to me before the session ended. By next year, I’m hoping the kids will be excited to see me.
We photographed Brian and Mandi’s wedding three years ago in Hartville and I had the fun job of coming back to photograph their firstborn daughter: Avery. That is such a nice name to go with an adorable face!
Naked babies are so cute! Even if they decide to look all serious
Tory and Erin are one of the first couples who’s wedding I photographed back in my film days. They might not know that their wedding photos are part of the reason why I am doing this today. I loved the experience and the results so much from their wedding that I started to seriously consider photography as a career. Here we are 4 plus year later and I have a job that I love.
We had a great time a couple years ago photographing Stephen and Tricia’ wedding. In fact, they were one of the first couples we blogged. I know how much they value photography so it means a lot that they trust us with with these family milestones. I then had the opportunity to take photos of Dane as a newborn and just again recently on his actual birthday at Stadium Park in Canton Ohio. Dane is now one with tons of energy, smiles and love. It’s so nice to see families grow when you’ve captured the beginning of the family unit: the wedding!
Here’s Pay-It-Forward session #2 with the Drago family. This time I headed to Mentor Headlands which is a fun place that combines sandy beach and dunes. Sandy beach in Ohio? Hard to believe but just check out the photos and it looks like another place.
John took photos of various photographer families as part of a Pay It Forward project. It seems most photographers rarely take the time to have someone else photograph them. This is an effort to make sure photographers families are also photographed and keep spreading the photo love.
With that background information I will now show photos from the Forrest family. Andrew Jordan joined us for the session as well. These were done in their yard in Hudson but then we wandered a little past their property limit.
While it might seem early to be thinking about the holidays, it will be here before you know it. We would like to encourage everyone who is thinking of giving photos as Christmas presents to book their photo sessions now!
A few months ago, we got an e-mail from a past wedding client, Ashley, saying the she wanted to surprise her parents on their aniversay with a family portrait session. We took some photos after Thanksgiving of Helen and her family since they came in from Jersey. Evelyn, the grand-daughter-in-law found us and booked the session just from seeing our website. Gwen is just shy of 7 months and already seems so mobile just rolling around and sitting up. She has the cutest facial expressions and great hair. Just looking and working on the photos, I couldn’t help but smile.
I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph twin sisters celebrating their XXth birthday. (You didn’t actually expect me to reveal their age did you?) Susie’s daughter surprised them with the portrait session and I was thrilled she asked me to do it. Such a great present!
