Elliott’s One Year Portrait Session

Lauren and I have gotten to know each other through mutual friends and wedding industry people. While we haven’t known each other for that long, it feels like I’ve reconnected with an old friend and conversation flows easily when we do get to spend time together. Nice to know there are kindred spirits out there and you can meet them at any age!

Lauren is a photographer herself so I was thrilled to hear she wanted me to photograph her son Elliott who was turning one as well and her and her husband Scott. Lauren did a great job coordinating everyone’s clothes as well as making a yummy cake (which I sadly didn’t get to try) for Elliott to smash. I loved the color selection, especially how striking the red looked outside in snowy Ohio. Thanks Elliott, Scott and Lauren for a fun portrait session!

Violet welcomes her brother Corbyn into the world

April and Graham welcomed their first child Violet not that long ago and decided to jump right back in for baby #2 in the midst of moving. Violet is thrilled to have a baby brother Corbyn even if that means she is no longer the constant focus of her mom and dad. For this photo session, grandma and grandpa joins us as well at the couple’s new home.

Their family has a lot of similarities with ours: two children close in age with the eldest being a daughter and the second born being a son. I hope Violet and Corbyn develop same closeness and bond we’ve witness our two children have. It is so rewarding to see them play together and eager to share life’s experiences together!

Baby Layla – Akron portrait

Meet little Layla: the sweet daughter of Jeff and Natalie. This little peanut is bound to inherit some of the bubbly, a little goofy, expressive, smart and kind personalities of her mom and dad.

It was great to hear that despite living hours away, Natalie and Jeff decided to come into town to visit with family, get Layla baptized and have me photograph their first family portraits. Seeing how fun we had at their wedding, I knew this time would be similar and sure enough we laughed during lots of the session and got some time to catch up. They even mentioned having considered the name “Genevieve”. Now I’m eagerly waiting for them to share the news about baby #2. No pressure though!

Baby Alyson

Ever since Anthony and Kara’s wedding in 2008, we knew family played an important part in their lives. I was thankful to get the call that they had started a family of their own and wanted me to photograph baby Alyson. We planned the fist official family portraits at their home in Akron.

In case you haven’t figured out by now, I (Genevieve) photograph all the babies and families that you see here on the blog and the website. It has truly become a pleasure to witness and capture the various chapters in people’s lives. In a small way I feel like I am capturing a part of history that will be treasured for years to come and that is so rewarding!

Ever wonder how you wake up one morning and it seems you’ve just skipped ahead 6 months? How somehow while time is consistent, it also seems to accelerate at certain periods on your life? I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way. My guess is Jimmy and Becci can relate especially with their son Kael growing up so fast. It’s been so fun witnessing his personality, his vibrant and exuberant one, develop over the course of 2011. While I’ve already photographed his one year old session, I refuse to go out of order so here you can enjoy images from his 9 month session taken before the holidays.

To me, this image conveys a feeling about “the wonder of Christmas”

For the love of family

Most of the trees had shed their foliage but a few golden leaves were persisting to hold on. Thankful for a final crisp fall day for the Hudec family to photograph their growing family. With young children changing so rapidly, it is so important to capture some of these fleeting moments before they are forever gone.

For a little change of pace, I had the opportunity to photograph Suganthi. For some images, she wore an Indian saree and for some a more formal outfit. Regardless of her clothing choice, her bubbly personality was the common theme.

Brothers and someday buddies

While Jackson was eager to pose for my camera, his younger brother Rhys wasn’t as enthusiastic. It should be said that Jackson has had prior experience with being photographed by me which helps. As soon as Rhys is a little older, I’m sure Jackson will be teaching him every trick he knows, share cars, run around together and become wonderful friends. For now, Rhys will be the more quiet brother, enjoying having his dad toss him high up and savor time spent close to mom. He’ll be chasing his brother soon enough!

Emme and Mia’s fall portraits

The crunch of colorful leaves and the last of warm glow of the sun set the scene for Emme and Amelia’s fall portrait session. It’s been a little while since Emme was in front of our camera but she is just as jovial now as she was when she was a baby. Now she has little sister Mia to keep her company. Mom and dad made some appearances in the photos too.

I realize these images are past due but better late than never. We have a backlog of several more portrait sessions that will showing up here soon. Enjoy!

The Fawcett Family at the studio

Some 9 years ago, I photographed the first chapter in the Fawcett story: their wedding. I’ve since captured chapter 2 a couple years ago with the birth of Harrison which can be seen here. Now with the addition of Faye, I was able to photograph chapter 3 of this lovely and growing family. I am often amazed to see how different siblings can be and Faye is very much the opposite of her brother. She is such a laid back and happy baby while Harrison a little more serious and loves being close to Mom and Dad at all times. What a pleasure to be trusted with capturing these moments in your lives Bradley and Antoinette! Thank you.
