Brothers and someday buddies

While Jackson was eager to pose for my camera, his younger brother Rhys wasn’t as enthusiastic. It should be said that Jackson has had prior experience with being photographed by me which helps. As soon as Rhys is a little older, I’m sure Jackson will be teaching him every trick he knows, share cars, run around together and become wonderful friends. For now, Rhys will be the more quiet brother, enjoying having his dad toss him high up and savor time spent close to mom. He’ll be chasing his brother soon enough!

Emme and Mia’s fall portraits

The crunch of colorful leaves and the last of warm glow of the sun set the scene for Emme and Amelia’s fall portrait session. It’s been a little while since Emme was in front of our camera but she is just as jovial now as she was when she was a baby. Now she has little sister Mia to keep her company. Mom and dad made some appearances in the photos too.

I realize these images are past due but better late than never. We have a backlog of several more portrait sessions that will showing up here soon. Enjoy!

Stan and Stephanie’s Wedding at the Old Courthouse

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of kicking off 2012 with Stephanie and Stan’s wedding at the Old Cuyahoga Courthouse in downtown Cleveland. We had the good fortune of running into Stephanie and Stan a week before their wedding at a little get together to celebrate the birthday of a mutual friend, Devin, the husband of wedding planning sensation Heidi of Heidzillas. This gave us the chance to briefly connect on a more personal level outside of wedding planning madness which, interestingly, can make the day of the actual wedding go much better as everyone is simply more comfortable with everyone else.

The weather wasn’t too terribly cooperative for our planned outdoor photo ideas, but luckily, Stan had a killer indoor location in his back pocket; the partially renovated building the houses the company he co-founded with two of his groomsmen. We could have shot in there for hours, but we were told there was a ceremony to get to.

In other firsts, we finally got to work with the talented Red Bicycle Media cinema crew, and Brittany of Heidzillas on the planning and coordinating end. What wasn’t a first, but always a pleasure is seeing The Avenue take charge of the party at the reception.

High School Senior Sam

After doing Sam’s brother photos a couple years ago, Sam himself decided to choose us for his high school senior photos as well. It was very interesting to witness the difference and slight similarities in personalities between the two brothers because I know how different my sister and I are. The weather was not especially cooperative that day but Sam was up for anything even standing in the rain for the shot. We also included his collection of shoes (is it appropriate to say that guys collect shoes?), the family plane, his car and some of his athletic gear. Wishing you a great rest of your senior year Sam!

2011 In Review

Genevieve and I would like to again express our gratitude to the 32 couples that trusted us in 2011 for their wedding photography. It’s been a very full year both personally and professionally and I firmly believe that the experiences of 2011 has enriched our lives and made us better people. My sincere hope is that you can say the same.

Nicole and Dan’s Engagement Session in Ohio City

Now that we are finally pulling out of what has been the busiest fall/early winter since we started doing photography, we are looking forward to getting caught up on blogging some portrait and engagement sessions in these slower months where weddings aren’t happening every weekend.

First off is Nicole and Dan’s engagement session in Ohio City. As we walked through the streets near the Great Lakes Brewing company, there was a strong scent of cinnamon and coffee cake in the air which likely came from the brewing of the (in)famous Great Lakes Christmas Ale which was probably in full swing at the time. Dan was a little apprehensive about being in front of the camera at first but unbeknownst to him, he’s a natural, and the session turned out great. We’re looking forward to their wedding which will take place at the new 700 Beta in early September, so keep your eyes on the blog for that when the time comes.

Matty and Erica’s Wedding at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel

Matty and Erica’s wedding on Saturday was our last wedding of 2012 and it was a fantastic note to end on. It was great to see two people so madly in love and so able to fully appreciate and enjoy every moment of their wedding day before the moment passes. This made our jobs very easy and we are very excited about the set of images we have for them.

The snow that was forecast for the day never materialized but we did have a beautifully clear yet brisk day to make use of. Winter light has a quality all its own and I’m glad we are able to make sure good use of it.

The Fawcett Family at the studio

Some 9 years ago, I photographed the first chapter in the Fawcett story: their wedding. I’ve since captured chapter 2 a couple years ago with the birth of Harrison which can be seen here. Now with the addition of Faye, I was able to photograph chapter 3 of this lovely and growing family. I am often amazed to see how different siblings can be and Faye is very much the opposite of her brother. She is such a laid back and happy baby while Harrison a little more serious and loves being close to Mom and Dad at all times. What a pleasure to be trusted with capturing these moments in your lives Bradley and Antoinette! Thank you.

Jen and Justin’s Engagement Session in Rocky River

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jen and Justin for their engagement session in Rocky River, Ohio. We started out at the Crocker Park shopping center where Jen admits to spending a little bit TOO much time, then we headed over towards Huntington Beach in hopes of some sunset photos. Nicole and Adam’s Engagement Session in Downtown, Akron

Nicole and Adam have a lot of history in Downtown Akron, so it just made sense to do their engagement session there. They met while at work at a local Hospital, they are both fans of the local baseball team, and they often hang out at one of the local bars that happens to be owned by a friend of theirs. We had a great time roaming around and I think we came away with some great images! Keep an eye on the blog for the conclusion this coming April.
