Fearless Awards Round 9 Winners
Adam and Nicole officially kicked off our season on Saturday with their wedding at St. Paul’s in Akron and reception at the Firestone Country Club. It was a really fun (if a bit chilly) day and despite a few setbacks with our photo location plans, we were able to get some great stuff of both the bridal party and the couple before we headed into the reception. The highlight of the reception had to have been when the MOH rapped her entire speech to everyone’s surprise, and she killed it!

Meet little Layla: the sweet daughter of Jeff and Natalie. This little peanut is bound to inherit some of the bubbly, a little goofy, expressive, smart and kind personalities of her mom and dad.
It was great to hear that despite living hours away, Natalie and Jeff decided to come into town to visit with family, get Layla baptized and have me photograph their first family portraits. Seeing how fun we had at their wedding, I knew this time would be similar and sure enough we laughed during lots of the session and got some time to catch up. They even mentioned having considered the name “Genevieve”. Now I’m eagerly waiting for them to share the news about baby #2. No pressure though!
On to chapter 2 of our European trip. This time the focus is on the Alsace where my family lives. What I love about this part of the country is how quaint and colorful some of the villages are. They truly look frozen in time with the stone paved streets, water fountains that are 200 years old and all the potted plants. When our friends Seth and Britta walked into one of these villages for the first time, he said something to the affect of : “Are you kidding me? This actually exist in real life?” Yep it does!
While there we enjoyed dinners with some old (from childhood) and new friends. Since there weather was so lovely most meals were taken “en plein air” and I had to share some images of those dishes. My mouth is salivating just remembering some of those. Time to try and replicate a couple of these dishes at home.
Our first stop after getting off the plane was at Rheinfall which is the largest waterfall in Europe. It is quite a sight

The Alsace is know for their white wines. While there we toured the Schmitt winery. I highly recommend it!
Ever since Anthony and Kara’s wedding in 2008, we knew family played an important part in their lives. I was thankful to get the call that they had started a family of their own and wanted me to photograph baby Alyson. We planned the fist official family portraits at their home in Akron.
In case you haven’t figured out by now, I (Genevieve) photograph all the babies and families that you see here on the blog and the website. It has truly become a pleasure to witness and capture the various chapters in people’s lives. In a small way I feel like I am capturing a part of history that will be treasured for years to come and that is so rewarding!
